Casey Timorason
Head of Talent – People OperationsMy life can be summed up in one word: Perspective.
Born & raised in New Jersey, I've always appreciated unique perspectives and the details beyond the surface. My family grew up juxtaposed between two worlds, living on the border of a wealthy town & a working-class neighborhood. I’d spend all day at a private school (well-off kids) & then come home to play basketball or a game of 8-ball with my friends from the next town over (not so well-off kids).
I didn’t appreciate my unique perspective until I asked a few school friends why they couldn’t come over - they weren’t allowed to hang out in our “bad neighborhood.” Meanwhile, this neighborhood was made up of the hardest-working, kind-hearted souls you’ll ever meet. I still cherish those relationships to this day.
Great people can come from all walks of life. Period.
I tell you this because it defined the professional I grew into. These formative experiences have allowed me to cultivate a successful recruiting career that was built on curiosity & an appreciation for unique perspectives. I'm the recruiter who will try to discover the nuances of what someone did, beyond just the high-level.
It’s allowed me to thrive in environments where:
1) There is a team committed to building trust.
2) There is a meaningful problem being solved by a top-tier team.
3) There is a culture of continuous improvement & an acceptance of failing forward.
4) There is a bias for direct communication and getting things done.
5) Leaders demonstrate thoughtful decision-making, real-time feedback & an openness to new ideas.
These guiding principles have enabled me to scale teams across industries including my own small business (a local ice cream store), fast-growing startups, Fortune 500 companies, and now in the trades.
